Respiratory illnesses include allergies, sinusitis and rhinitis. Household factors play a major role in respiratory health and increase susceptibility to asthma, allergies, and other respiratory illnesses.
For example, numerous home pollutants — dust, cockroach debris, tobacco smoke, and paint fumes—are known to aggravate asthma. Also factors like pet dander, household mites, strong scented perfumes can also aggravate allergies and asthma. If we can control or reduce the exposures of these kind of factors it will benefit the overall respiratory health of the family. Mental stress at the work place or related to relationships may also contribute the aggravation of the asthmatic attacks in the people who are more prone towards it.
Approximately 34.1 million Americans have been diagnosed with asthma by a health professional during their lifetime.
An estimated 300 million people worldwide suffer from asthma, with 250,000 annual deaths attributed to the disease.
About 70% of asthmatics also have allergies.
Workplace conditions, such as exposure to fumes, gases or dust, are responsible for 11% of asthma cases worldwide.
It is estimated that the number of people with asthma will grow by more than 100 million by 2025.
In developing countries also there is a rise of respiratory illnesses due to environmental factors such as increasing pollution, increasing smoking addictions even in a very young age, unhygienic conditions, increasing stress levels, etc.
Asthma is also known as allergic bronchitis and bronchial asthma. Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease of the airways characterized by variable and recurring symptoms, reversible airflow obstruction and bronchospasm, which causes attacks of wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness, and coughing.
Nowadays many children around the world are getting affected by allergic bronchial asthma. If they are not treated properly, then they complain of less stamina than other children. So, they avoid physical activities to avoid the attacks of coughing and wheezing. Because of which their physical growth gets adversely affected and they become weak.
Hay Fever which is also known as allergic rhinitis is an allergic reaction in which there is inflammation of the nasal airways. It is seen more in people with sensitized immunity, as they react to common allergens like pollen, dust etc.
Symptoms vary from person to person, but the most common symptoms are production of nasal secretions, rhinorrhea, itching in the nose, sneezing, burning and itching sensation in the eyes, ears and nose blockage or nasal congestion. In very sensitive people we may see all these symptoms together with hives (allergic skin rashes ). Approximately 20% of population worldwide are affected by hay fever. It is not a life-threatening condition but it impairs the quality of life.
Homoeopathy is an effective and scientific system of healing, which believes that the natural mechanism of body to heal itself should be improved, and not only the illness. With Homoeopathic medicines one can improve the Immune system that is the defensive mechanism of a person. Once the body’s own immune system is stimulated the body itself takes care of the ailments. Slowly the frequency and the intensity of the complaints starts reducing.
